Research & Planning 16/20:
This student got off to a slow start but then made good headway in his research into similar texts, with some strong audience research. The student's organisation of models and location shots was strong particularly given that he had to do a re-shoot. Good drafting has been included and the presentation of this work is excellent. Time management of the production was very good.
Text 36/60:
A completed artefact which just touches upon proficient although suffers from a lack of creativity and a failure to engage fully with the task. This candidate has managed to replicate a similar magazine of the same genre but not really done enough to demonstrate that they can create and explore their given medium to a high standard. The images used are perhaps somewhat lazily left as they are without simple touches and enhancements being applied which would have improved the overall finish of the magazine. The cover is sparse and whilst we understand that space can be used effectively the main image is not of a quality required to leave the cover so empty. The font works and genre is apparent through the images and typography but only to a proficient level. The image used for the double page spread is good and the article really does look like a ‘real text’. ICT has been used but as mentioned not to a level we expect.
Evaluation 12/20:
A slightly disappointing evaluation from a student who could achieved a level 4. The student shows a good understanding of issues audience, institution, technology, representation and forms and conventions of music magazines. His ability to communicate choices made and the development in skills from the preliminary task is good rather than excellent. The evaluation is communicated well via a range of ICT applications in his Blog.
