Text 60/60:
A truly outstanding piece of work from a dedicated, keen and enthusiastic candidate. All that have seen this artefact have been unable to offer anything more which could be added/changed with some suggestions actually hindering the ‘look’ of the piece! Images are well selected and used, with the candidate using his skill in Photoshop to enhance all the images, bringing them into the forefront of the audience’s thoughts. The typography used throughout adds to the images creating a sense of branding and genre whilst still maintaining style and appeal. The ideas are excellent and clearly exhibit a high level of creativity and ability, we really can see little else this candidate could have done! Top marks awarded for the finish as much as anything, this really does look like a music magazine.
Evaluation 13/20:
The evaluation proved to be the more challenging aspect of the course for this hardworking student. He has shown a sound understanding of issues around audience, institution, technology, representation and forms and conventions in relation to music magazines. The student has demonstrated understanding of development between the preliminary task and main production. Effective communication of the evaluation via a range of digital formats in the Blog is impressive.

Research & Planning 15/20:
After an initial slow start this student really impressed in overcoming some issues to achieve good research into similar texts and target audience. Organisation of models and the production of the text was well executed. The students has provided drafting and clear evidence of work in progress shown. The presentation of research and planning is good and time management of the production was very good.
Text 42/60:
A technically excellent response with some elements which demonstrate the candidate’s ability in Photoshop well beyond what he was taught in class. However, it lacks the cohesion and accessibility of a ‘real media text’, with it being quite challenging to receive/read. The magazine would have worked better without the 3D effect and whilst it is justified by the candidate it does nothing for the magazine and actually detracts from what could have been an excellent piece of work. The sell lines look rather scruffy and as a complete artefact there is a lack of finish which doesn’t come from lack of time nor ability but rather a failure to leave the work alone! A variety of images all well taken and edited/altered well. Conceptually and technically a very good piece of work but too much is going on.
Evaluation 16/20:
The student has shown a sound understanding of issues around audience, institution, technology and representation. In addition he shows a clear understanding of forms and conventions of music magazines as shown in the discussion of the way in which the text produced challenges some of the conventions of similar texts. The student provides a clear discussion of decisions made and the development between the preliminary task and the main task. Communication is effective and the candidate has shown initiative in using a range of media in this evaluation, that also includes an evaluation of the main production by his target audience. A good effort for this student.

This student worked hard throughout the course and has provided excellent research into similar texts and target audience. Organisation of the production was incredibly well managed and there is strong evidence of drafting and work in progress. Text 37/60:
This student worked incredibly hard and showed real dedication throughout the course of the construction of this artefact. The student aimed to produce a magazine of a niche genre in order to demonstrate a level of creativity and flair. Whilst she has utilised some key conventions and demonstrated proficient technical skill in her manipulation of orginal images, some aspects of the magazine such as the integration of text and style of typography, prevent this from being of a level 4 standard. This a great shame given that this student made several revisions to the work in progress following feedback and guidance.

Research & Planning 17/20:
This student worked impressively with all tasks related to research and planning. There is excellent research into similar texts and target audience. Organisation of the production was well managed with photos taken at early stage. There is strong evidence of drafting and work in progress. Time management was impressive in view of constructing the magazine but more time could have been spent on improving the double page spread in particular. The student's use of digital technologies in the presentation of work is very good.
Text 37/60:
A strange submission from a candidate who clearly has not spent equal amounts of time on the three elements of their completed artefact. The cover and double page spread are aesthetically very good but perhaps are not wholly suitable for the music magazine medium. There is proficient technical skill exhibited in the composition and the photographs used. The candidate benefits from having what appears to be an accomplished and willing model! The material at times is appropriate for the target audience and task but this is only proficient as we as markers felt that it looks more like a woman’s glossy magazine than a music magazine, the genre is muddled (both musically and within the medium). The contents page really does let this submission down, it seems rushed and hackneyed with little cohesion to it. The images seem to have come from a variety of sources but don’t seem to have any link to them, a real shame. ICT has been used to a proficient level and there is proficiency in the ability to integrate the text and images (the watermarked background to the double page spread is particularly successful).
Evaluation 14/20:
This is slightly disappointing evaluation from an able student. This work is a proficient evaluation of the production in which the student shows a good understanding of issues around audience, institution, technology, representation, forms and conventions of music magazines. The student shows a good rather than excellent ability to reflect on choices made and she communicates effectively via a range of means in the Blog.

Research & Planning 16/20:
This student got off to a slow start but then made good headway in his research into similar texts, with some strong audience research. The student's organisation of models and location shots was strong particularly given that he had to do a re-shoot. Good drafting has been included and the presentation of this work is excellent. Time management of the production was very good.
Text 36/60:
A completed artefact which just touches upon proficient although suffers from a lack of creativity and a failure to engage fully with the task. This candidate has managed to replicate a similar magazine of the same genre but not really done enough to demonstrate that they can create and explore their given medium to a high standard. The images used are perhaps somewhat lazily left as they are without simple touches and enhancements being applied which would have improved the overall finish of the magazine. The cover is sparse and whilst we understand that space can be used effectively the main image is not of a quality required to leave the cover so empty. The font works and genre is apparent through the images and typography but only to a proficient level. The image used for the double page spread is good and the article really does look like a ‘real text’. ICT has been used but as mentioned not to a level we expect.

Research & Planning 11/20:
The student got off to a disappointing start will all aspects of the research and planning work set. Whilst work was produced late, there is good research into similar texts and a target audience. However there is no evidence of drafting and little in the way of work in progress. The level of care taken in presentating the work via the Blog is fair but lacks use of a suitable range of ICT applications as befits the ability of this students. Time management was not very good.
Text 36/60:
This student could have done much better if he had managed his time effectively and met deadlines set. As a consequence, the magazine shows a level of proficiency in the franing of shots and the manipulation of images, however material mise en scene is basic and the front cover lacks the appropriate use of copy that one would expect on a magazine of this genre. Use of language and register is sound in some parts of the double page spread but this is at times inconsistent with the overall feature. This student could have produced work of a far better standard, hence a disappointing effort.
Evaluation 15/20:
This student has shown a very good understanding of music magazine audiences, representation, institution and use of technology in constructing the artefact. Whilst there is strong ability to refer to choices made and communicate effectively, there is a lack of real skill in the presentation of this work which is disappointing given the potential of this particular student.
